"One Small Step from the Sonoma Plaza."
- Close to everything. Miles from ordinary -

You don’t have to go to space to feel weightless.

But it helps to come home to the right place.

Rusty Schweickart went to space. Apollo 9. Lunar Module Pilot.

He tested the system that kept astronauts alive on the Moon.

Then he came home—not to a mansion, not to a monument—

But to a house in Sonoma with sunlight, quiet, and a garden full of gravity.

This is that house.

It’s not trying to be something it’s not.

It’s not loud. It’s not trendy.

It’s the kind of place you grow into, not out of.

A proper dining room. Not because you entertain celebrities.

But because Sunday dinner with friends matters.

A kitchen with a breakfast nook.

Because sunlight should come with your coffee.

A living room with tall ceilings and a view of the garden.

Because nature doesn’t need decorating.

And yes—an Orangerie. With skylights.

A room that invites light in and lets time slow down.

It doesn’t ask for attention. It earns it.

Outside?

A backyard that smells like jasmine in spring.

A patio that practically sets the table for you.

And stars overhead that someone in this house once visited.

You won’t find this on TikTok.

There’s no viral hook.

Just history, intention, and a life well lived.

The Schweickart Residence

East Side Sonoma. A few blocks from the plaza.

A thousand miles from pretense.

Kathleen Leonard is a woman who knows her terroir. She lives, laughs, entertains, and works in the heart of Northern California’s Wine Country, where the Cabernet is bold, the vistas are breathtaking, and the homes—oh, the homes! —are simply divine.  A proud graduate of UC Davis (that marvelous hub of agriculture, science, and wine!), Kathy grew up in Northern California, where she mastered the ski slopes in winter and horseback riding all year long.  She’s no stranger to rolling up her sleeves either—having bought, restored, and sold properties for more than 20 years before donning her Realtor® apron.  She’s also a true gourmand, having served as President of the San Francisco Professional Food Society and mingled with culinary icons like Robert Mondavi and Julia Child.  Her kitchen—and her contacts—have been filled with world-class chefs and vintners.  For over two decades, Kathy has been a top-producing real estate agent, with a special flair for country properties.  Whether it’s a vineyard estate or a charming farmhouse, she brings seasoned expertise and a generous helping of joy to every transaction.  Beyond the world of real estate, Kathy is a tireless community volunteer.  Kathy serves La Luz in Sonoma, supporting Latino individuals and families.   She has served on the Executive Board of the Sonoma Valley Museum of Art, chaired grants committees for Impact 100, and supports treasured causes like the Homeless Prenatal Program and George Mark Children’s Home.  She’s a sustaining member of Junior League Napa Sonoma and a past chair of Slow Food Sonoma—because good food and good people always go together.  According to Kathy, Wine Country is about as close to perfect as a place can be—and her passion for it is as infectious as a glass of bubbly on a summer afternoon.  So if you’re dreaming of your own slice of paradise, come to Wine Country!  Kathy is ready to help you stir, season, and serve up the next delicious chapter of your life.
